loss

our fingertips brush
the trickle of tear, silent sighs,
when forever was forever
but became

temporary.

when your heart was my heart
the time
beating together
now the endless stretch
pausing between measures, uncertain
melody –

apart.

lingering fragrance
mixed with the bitterness of tears, flower
b l o o m e d
once here, but the sun enveloped by night

disappeared.

walls proud with laughter
drawings of happiness splattered
yellow – painted over
gray –
water trails down the wall

a lover weeping for loss.
