gently, she kisses
the top of her baby’s head,
wishing for the best
she carries the house
on her well-worn tired shoulders –
her baby gurgles
nights filled with worries
of her baby – her future –
tear tracks carved in deep
the wrinkles of time
mark her face as her baby
grows and blossoms sweet
till the day arrived
when her baby laid her hand
on her mother’s head
telling her “thank you”
for all she has done for her
and laying a kiss
on her mother’s head,
granting to her well wishes
for life beyond life.
