Broken Dreams

Shattered glass across the floor,
Woven threads of red along the edges
And there she is…
Lying so still.

And I scream when the bear shouts
Goldilocks!” and I turn confused
Only to be hit by an incoming car
And shoved into a bed of medium size.

Help, please, he begged,
Tears were tracing down his face,
But I didn’t move.
He deserved it.

Shards of the mirror in my hands
My knuckles are bleeding,
And suddenly my mother is there, hugging me,
She is dead.

There’s a sheep on the field,
And the farmer is there, screaming instructions,
I slump down on the bench, groaning,
Beaten at soccer by a sheep.

Shattered glass across the floor,
“Goldilocks!”
He deserves it,
And my mother is hugging me,
The sheep smiles.
